BLANKING OUT

Fall season, although a great carp fishing season, for me, it is also a season to reflect. How was my year? What were my ups and downs? What are my lessons learned? Positive or negative, I always analyze, draw conclusions and set new goals. Long time ago someone told me, to learn from my own mistakes or even better from mistakes of others, although true, easier said than done. Probably one of the most difficult experiences for me is to analyze my own blanking out. I realize that no matter how good I am and no matter how well I know the water, I will blank out at some point of time. Accepting this fact is very hard for me personally because I just don’t know why I blank out. If I knew the answer, accepting this fact would probably be a lot easier.

CONCRETE JUNGLE

Fall is a beautiful season, when leaves change color from green to yellow and yellow to red, when temperature keeps dropping and when animals start to get ready for winter. Although, change in the season is visible all around us, I have decided to enjoy this amazing part of the year and spend it outside, fishing. With lower temperatures of the air, temperature of the water drops and fish starts to feed more vigorously in the anticipation of upcoming winter months. It was a beautiful Sunday, with temperature a little over 60 degrees, clear sky and mild wind. For this trip I have decided to get away from beauty of the fall and go right in the heart of the city, the concrete jungle. Canals, buildings, roads, and bridges all covered in melancholy of autumn; gray, cold, with no life.

NEVER GIVE UP

It has been a great fishing year for me so far, with many trips made individually and with other anglers. Fruitful trips which resulted in many great experiences and many great catches. This country has so many amazing fishing places to offer, fishing places full of carp – that beautiful fish we all love to catch. I remember few weeks ago when my wife Maggie asked me a question; “Why do you go to so many different places to fish if you have great fishing spots close to home?” That made me think… she is right. When she travels from work she is always taking pictures of lakes and sends them to me as a suggestions for next fishing trip. I have decided to do some local scoping to pick my next target and I have settled on the lake which I already fished in past.

SHORT LOCAL SESSION

It was another great short session on the local lake. This session was made with two of our good friends Michael Gliksman and Mark Roik. Approach from the beginning was very simple and resulted in great success. Each 6 hour or less fishing session requires a good strategy right from the beginning, so we have decided to place small amounts of bait on the smallest possible area about 75 yards out. Spod mix which we have used consisted of sweet corn with juice, oats and handful of 12 mm K-1 Baits Strawberry boilies. Very effective combination not only short sessions. This combination attracts the fish very quickly and small doses throughout the session are keeping fish in your targeted area.

WISCONSIN CARP CHAMPIONSHIP 2015

This past weekend another carp tournament took place in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.  Two Rivers being a small town hosts an amazing event in which carp anglers compete for a title of Wisconsin Carp Champion. 38 carp anglers from all over the states came to this event and competed thru hot and humid weather as well as pouring rain. In spite the challenging weather conditions it was an fantastic time all anglers had during two days of the competition. Congratulations to all the participants and all the winners. Special thanks to the Village of Two River for allowing this event to happen, to Lee Young and Eric Glazewski for organizing the event and to all the event sponsors. Special thanks to K-1 Baits, Wacker Baits, and St. Croix for providing the winners with wonderful prizes.

TRIP TO CARP PARADISE

About three hour drive west of Chicago, almost on the border with an adjoining State of Iowa is beautifully situated, relatively small lake, arising in 1927 in order to provide the water intake for cooling the engines of locomotives traveling thru the western part of the State of Illinois. Who would have thought that by the end of the century this lake will become almost a magical place for carp fishing anglers from State of Illinois, as well as all of the United States and also be visited by European carp fishing anglers? Where this magic and uniqueness of this place came from? In addition to the beautiful grounds this lake holds powerful carp exceeding weight of 40 pounds, and even larger. More than a decade already this opportunity to fish over 40 pound carp, attracts as magnet carp fishing anglers from around the United States.
